On December 28th, National Short Film Day commemorates the day the motion picture industry was born, when the Lumière brothers projected a program of short films to a public audience for the first time in 1895 at the Grand Café in Paris.

In 2021, McKMacDuffie Films and Silver Fox Productions hosted a virtual film premiere on the 28th of December for a selection of short films by McKenzie MacDuffie. In 2024, McKenzie is opening the door for a continuation of the legacy of Short Film Day, the Lumière brothers, and countless filmmakers around the world.
